Make It Double This Time || Teags!
« Thread Started on Apr 13, 2007, 5:57pm »

“Well, you can have it with some cinnamon or vanilla, maybe?” he continued trailing on as the different and very large list of ways the girl could try her coffee came to mind. “Any thing you can think off, really. And I’m pretty certain that the house elves will be able to pull anything off. Magic has to have some good use when used in combination with something as this.”

He nodded somewhat knowingly, somewhat looking for agreement in his companion.

The girl was awfully quite. Very much so compared to the type of people he was used to mingle with. Not that he mingled with many at the school, but that hardly made a difference at this bare fact. The German teenager was simply used to the boisterous type, the ones who could talk out their minds with only making a brief pause, the type that either were talking, laughing or waiting for a pause to insert their comment. Yes, they could get quite annoying. Yet, it was never boring around that type.

Still, there was something about the silence that wasn’t as unsettling as it may have seemed at first. He was enjoying her company despite it or, maybe, because of it. It was a nice change of scenario, per se.

“What I don’t recommend is drinking the coffee of the common lounge.” The blonde started with yet another chain of random thought and babblings regarding the still ongoing and never ending subject of coffee. It should’ve been quite evident to the girl that he appreciated his hot java very much. “I, admittedly, never drunk any of it. But! The Head Girl recommended me I should stay away from it on one of my first days here. And I’m not keen on proving her wrong. Drinking coffee that tastes like dirty water is really not of my liking.”

And he was being quite the babbler now, wasn’t he? Zach just couldn’t avoid it. Caffeine effect and brief high was hitting him with all his might and random and disconnected thoughts crossed his mind like lightenings. It was only a very small fraction it that managed to actually come to words and escape out of his mouth. A strange effect of coffee, which he appreciated very much. Some times you just needed that little boost after you woke up. Having someone to talk to while this happened was only sweeter.

Rambling non-cesantly to your cat hardly compared to actually talking to another human being.

If barely leaving open pauses to let the other add a ‘Mmhmm’ and and ‘Ohhh’ was actually having a conversation, that is.

“The kitchen is also good to get any other kind of things to eat. It’s an incessant source of food for which your stomach will be thankful if ever you loose a meal by some reason. Granted that in the mornings I don’t make much use of it. Am not really the type that ingest solids after they jump out of bed, but midnight cravings appreciated this place very much.”

Taking a deep sigh he paused and sipped the very last bit of remnant liquid containing obvious high amounts of caffeine from his mug. It was just a lucky fact that they were only so where close to their final destination as of now. Or maybe not. Zach knew his way down here like the back of his palm by now and had calculated the amounts of sips he should take to make it last all the way. That he had been being quite the chatty being, only helped with that matter on some way or another.

“Have you thought of with what you’ll take it?” the boy asked, eying the empty bottom of the ceramic cup in his hand.

Right-o here. So. They were off to see the Wizard of Coffee, who was remarkably nothing like the Wizard of Oz. She'd even begun to believe that she was actually walking alongside the Wizard of Coffee, though she hardly let onto the fact that that particular idea had bashed its way into her mind. Why? Because it was a pretty freaking random thought. Also because she just wasn't in the mood to start making references to muggle movies aloud.

"You can put cinnamon and vanilla in it?" she questioned further, the blonde growing more and more confused by the liquid she'd originally believed you only lumped some several hundred spoonfulls of sugar into after having drowned it in creme. This was all coming as a bit of a surprise, really.

"Anything I want?" Why didn't people stick with traditional coffee? Why did they have to give her so many choices right from the start? Because, honestly, what was she expected to do? Teagan was starting to feel that by the time they got to the kitchens, all she'd be able to do was stand there with her mouth open and stare at the caffeine-y goodness of it all.

The entire walk, she'd been trying her best to keep up a steady conversation with him. Though, really, she just wound up saying 'oh really?' most of the time. It was getting to the point where she'd begun to come up with more creative ways to say it, though. Whether that made things better or worse was anybody's guess.

However, her 'talkative' seemed to be the equivalent of Zach's 'rather quiet'. She would've hated to have seen what he might've thought of her on a normal day, or standing next to her roommate. Honestly, she was trying, though. Because, if anything, she wanted to move on.

Perhaps that came so easily because this hadn't been a clean break. In her mind, she'd known it was a long time coming. The seventh year just hadn't been able to accept the fact until a while ago. At which point she'd just hung around plotting what to say, then hoping things would change.

And, when all of that had failed, she'd taken action, point blank. Was the slate wiped clean? Not really. But she could sort those things out later, in the semi-privacy (semi because no amount of wall would silence Veronica Valez) of her room.

"No coffee from the common lounge. Understood." The Irish girl would have nodded, had her gait not felt so horribly stiff. That stay on the couch, however short-lived, had really done nothing for her posture. Not that she actually had or cared about posture. Ugh. Thoughts scampering all over the place.

And there he went again, being so dreadfully amusing that she gave him a look with the faintest traces of a smile playing her lips. He was... fun. Different, but fun nonetheless. Veronica had been... exciting? Sure. She'd been exciting - he was fun. It was, however, nice to be around someone who wasn't dangerous.

Pausing mentally to wonder if she'd be so hyped up the moment she ingested what he considered to be the nectar of the gods (wine be damned, right?), the Jameson continued her walk with the other.

"I'll remember that," she said a bit louder than normal, quickly so as not to lose her place in that little bit of conversation. Merlin only knew when he'd start with the talking again, and then it'd be just... whoa. Just whoa.

Not a bad whoa, but still very whoa.

Oh bother. He was asking about what she wanted. Scrunching her nose slightly in thought as grey-green eyes narrowed, Teagan slowed a bit, before shrugging. "Not really, no. Something... tasty?" Yeah, okay, lame, but that was seriously what she was going for, here. What good was getting coffee if she was going to spit it back out again once she'd tried it? "Umm... with caramel?" That was tasty, right?

Ok, so obviously the giving a wide range of options strategy wasn’t helping much here. Despite his momentary lapse of verbal diarrhea, the blonde didn’t fail to notice the air of confusion that was growing more and more evident around the girl. Maybe it was better to quit it with the subject and just make her drink it the regular way. If she disliked it that way, the fellow Estremo could give up coffee altogether. In case of liking it or not being totally against it they could do a tasting session of its different variations.

Yes, that sounded like a plan. A brilliant one at that if you asked Zach.

“Yeah, either or both, I reckon.” He replied with one short nod of his head. “Adding weird stuff probably isn’t a good idea. I dunno, like, barbeque sauce or something like that. That would be just plain nasty. But there are certain things that mash well together with it.”

Yes, she was definitely confused by her wide array of ways she could drink the coffee. It seemed that the girl had never really had some caffeine addict, or someone of the type that liked to experiment with food and beverages, as a friend. The older student probably had thought you couldn’t go father than adding sugar, milk or cream to it.

“We could start with the basics,” Zach finally suggested and put his previously planned idea into words. “See if you like it and then we can see where we go from there. Sounds like a plan? Yes? No?”

But hey! Wait a minute! She’d voiced a preference, or rather a forced choice, for what to add to it. So his plan would end confusing her even more. Because he had kind of pushed her to choose something and, when she finally did, he was just discarding that idea and going back to the start. He really wasn’t of much help, was he?

For the first time in a good twenty minutes or more he considered that shutting up for a longer period and paying closer attention to what the other said was extremely necessary. That a thought such as this had crossed his mind could mean that the caffeine effect was disappearing or, that maybe, he was using his brain the way he should and not for nonsensical thoughts.

Eh, either way. What’s done is done, right?

“Or you can have the first one with caramel,” he added in a faint attempt of making his blabbing less confusing for the female walking with him.

Realizing that they’d arrived at their destination, the German boy came to a halt and turned to look directly at the girl. The hand that wasn’t holding the mug went up to scratch his head and only intensified his messy looking hairdo. “Sorry for being kind of confusing.”

And as quick and unsettling as the calm before a storm, the ephemeral moment of calmness and sincere apology vanished into thin air with what came next.

“Viola!” he exclaimed with a short bow and a rather flourish movement of his hand (which included drawing a lot of circles in the air). “We’ve arrived at the Kitchens entrance.”

Not giving the other much time to react in any way to his blatant display of mental incapacity, Zach moved a bit to open the door to said room, “Ladies first.”

Her mind just wasn't really that ready to process so many options at once. Honestly, she was not mentally handicapped or at all confused by his babbling. It was a pleasant difference to the usual nasty comments she received, and made for some better listening. She didn't feel the need to tune out, or anything of the sort.

Just kind of wished that Zach would remember she was human, and not that hyper as of that moment. Therefore, half of what he was tossing at her was being lost somewhere in her mind for her to stumble across and say 'doh!' at a later date.

"I don't think I'd want - um, oh - er - "

Holy hopping, did he realize how quickly he was losing her? The Irish girl was starting to figure that she just responded far too slowly for him. Maybe it'd be best to just smile and nod? But then she might smile and nod at something that would've deserved a frown and shake of the head?

Argh. Okay. Right. Here it went. "Alright. Sounds good." There. Said it quick, got it out there, saved self from more embarrassment, right? Hopefully, anyway. Though she'd heard from countless others that straight coffee was absolutely disgusting. Something about it needing sugar and creme. Or other things.

Then again, what did she know? The Jameson was pretty sure she'd already been shown up by about this point in time.

Except now he wanted her to have the caramel? Well, right then. Okay. So, caramel. Sounded nifty. "Are you sure?" she asked, not really trying to be coy in any sense of the word, though raising a brow a little nonetheless. "Have you done it before?" She really didn't want to try it unless someone else did first.

The faintest hint of a smile graced her lips as she gave a little shake of her head, a hand waving. "I'm used to confusing people." Or, rather,a confusing person. Just one, but Teagan had already decided she could get used to other people. Veronica wasn't there to hold her back anymore, right? Right. Just a little bit. Because they shared a dorm.

And that may have sucked, but at least now she could get on with life.

And they were there. She didn't know whether to thank her lucky stars or feel apprehensive. She settled for some unusual amount of both, grey-green eyes glancing upwards briefly, then to the younger Estremo. "Thank you," she stated, scooting inside and about the corner a little before turning and waiting for him to follow.

The kitchens were looking more and more like a complicated, dark, scary place. Which meant she'd need some experienced German back-up here. Because, apparently, they were goin' in.

“I know, I’ll just ask them to bring over three cups or so with different options and you can just give them a sip and see which one you like better,” and on he went giving yet another option and the last suggestion on the list. Though, this wasn’t really leaving an opening for an acceptance or rejection.

Zach just figured it would be better to take the reigns on this whole deal before he confused her even more. This, he could guess quite well, had been quite a lot by this point. The girl wasn’t in her top shape (even if she looked way better than when he’d found her on the couch earlier on) and this in part was to cheer her up.

Cheering up, for the German boy, implied making the others life a little less complicated. Even if it just was with trivial things such as this or for the briefest of moments.

“My pleasure,” the boy said with a wide grin as his companion entered the kitchens.

Only seconds after he followed her in. Just in time to meet the avalanche of attention that came in their direction.

Not sure on how Teagan would react to this, he stepped ahead to shield her off somehow and extending his empty cup. The creatures working in this part of the castle were familiar with the boy sneaking in at any hour of the day in search of another dose of coffee. They wouldn’t be overwhelmed with questions and get his companion melt into an even bigger pile of confusion.

“And three more, one with caramel, a cappuccino and surprise me with the third one,” he said cheerfully, hoping the house elves would get the clue that this was for Teagan and leave them be for the moment. “Thank you.”

For the first time, since they had entered their place of destination, the blonde turned to look at the other. Raising both his eyebrows, he wiggled them happily for the fraction of a second before motioning in direction of the closest not-occupied-with-elves-working sort of table.

Okay, well, this was... overwhelming. Completely and totally overwhelming. She was trying to just go with it, here, let it suck her into its caffeine-chilled grip, but there was a little resistance in the form of common sense. She'd barely met him, he could be leading her into a trap, she could be allergic to coffee beans, she might die from the shock to her system...

Ah, but all that didn't really matter now, did it? There was something about Zach that the young Irish woman didn't have issue trusting. He had an honest face, or mannerisms. Something like that. Back-stabber? She'd lived with one for years. He was the farthest thing from.

"Sounds like a plan," the Jameson offered almost weakly, agreeing with this course of action nonetheless. Sounded like a good way to go. Good as any about that point in time, in fact. It could be like wine tasting. Not that she'd ever done that either. Crap.

The older Estremo had decided to let him handle this. Why? Because he was doing such a swell job of it, and she really had no desire to fight for any sort of 'dominance' here. Never had, in fact. Why start now?

Grey-green eyes lit upon the house elves for the first time, blinking slowly as her jaw dropped in surprise. Well, that hadn't really been expected. Alright. Weird. Also a little bit intimidating. Had she been a more vocal person, Teagan might've laughed nervously and started edging towards the door. As it was, the Müller had jumped forwards to 'protect' her, it seemed, coffee cup in hand.

She wasn't entirely sure how the next bit went down, but it involved him giving the lot of them orders, and all the wee things obeying. Not that there'd really been any initial command given. They were sort of going with the flow, though.

Umm... swell?

Giving the German boy a tiny grin in response to his eyebrow-wriggling, she glanced back towards the creatures of the kitchens, then shook her head. "They seem to know you well."

“It would be kind of odd if they didn’t by now,” the comment came along as the younger Estremo rested one of his elbows on the table and observed the little creatures go about with their, currently, coffee producing task.

Ah, but there was a key point the blonde boy had seemed to skip in his path of thoughts when voicing his thoughts previously. The girl accompanying him didn’t know that the kitchens were somewhere close to his main hang out place in the school. Yeah, better to clarify that.

“I do come here every day at least once,” Zach explained as he focused back his attention on Teagan. “I’m a big caffeine addict. I have coffee instead of blood running through my veins. This is why I’m very well known by them. Don’t even have to ask them for a re-fill when I come. They already know what I want. Brilliant creatures, house elves.”

And that seemed to suffice to give a bigger insight to what he had first said. If that didn’t make it clear, the German boy didn’t what would. But he had more faith in the reasoning capabilities of his housemate to keep on explaining and make and idiots proof speech. No, that seemed qui-

Look! There came the coffee already.

“Fast as a lightening, too.” He added gleaming as the four mugs were placed on the table in front of him, accompanied by a couple of spoons and a little container of porcelain filled up to the top with sugar. By the looks of it they were ready and set to start their, well Teagan’s, coffee tasting.

“I’m kind of curious as what they made for the third one,” the boy confessed, pouring a couple of spoonfuls of sugars into his own dark brown beverage.
