Law Signups

Years 4 – 5
Provided law will be an important part of their future career, these beginner classes are very helpful for students in year four to five.

First part of these classes will exist out of studying and comparing various Muggle and magical laws. Part of these laws are provided by the teacher, others will be suggested by students.

Second and final part of these classes will exist out of ‘creating’ new laws and getting to know how laws are made and accepted. Discussions in the courtroom will be practiced and occasionally court trials will be held for practicing purposes.

Years 6 – 8
In year six to eight you specialize in a certain law field most helpful for your future career. Again, both Muggle and magical laws will be studied, compared and discussed. Discussions will play an important key role in these classes.

Year six to eight will be put together. Year eight will help out sixth years, sixth-year students are expected to be fast enough learners to keep up. Sixth-year students can follow this class if they’ve not had law before, though it will be very hard.

Students can only study one field at the same time.

Constitutional law
Specialize in human rights, constitutional laws and political influence in these laws. Helpful to those after a political career or for activists.

Criminal law
Both Muggle and magical criminal offenses and punishments will be studied, compared and discussed.
Helpful to those after an Auror, Hit Wizard or any other career in that field.

Civil law
Study Muggle and magical civil laws. This will mostly be about torts (neglect, accidents). Offenses in this law field are not as ‘bad’ as those studied in criminal law.
Helpful to those who want to know more about rules and laws they can easily get into contact with through everyday life.

Class rules

  • You arrive on time
  • Do not talk when not asked to
  • Be active, serious and up to date with work and knowledge
  • If you want to say something in class raise your hand
  • Homework will be handed in next class unless said otherwise
  • If I can’t read what you write it’ll be graded T

You get two chances to better yourself if you’ve been warned in class. A second warning in the same class means House Point deduction, the third means you’ll not be welcome for a month. I do expect you to be completely up to date when you’re welcome in my classroom again and to have finished whatever absence assignment I’ve given you.

If you wish to get extra help or help peers out then please notify me.
I will assign tutors to peer students.
