((June 19th, dinnertime))

“One two three four, one two three…”

The sudden loudness of the rock music that boomed through the lower levels from the ballroom startled the tranquil peace that was found in the twilight. Chords rapidly plucked, some in a low key, some in a higher one, followed the steady, swift beat of a pair of sticks tapping their drums. One strolling the dusky hallways, so eerily lit at that time of day, would expect to hear a voice streaming into a microphone any second now - but no voice ever popped up. It was simply just an instrumental piece, apparently. That, or whomever’s band was playing really did suck at position-filling.

We really need a dude to sing for us… or a dudette, Michi was thinking as she moved her fingers up and down her cherry red-and-black bass, plucking off the chords by heart… almost. She hadn’t completely memorized the composition they were playing yet, so the sheets were messily sprawled out on a music stand that stood in front of the short girl. Her multi-coloured hair had been pulled up into a purposely messy half-bun ponytail with a fluffy black ribbon to go with her grey hoodie T-shirt with the low neckline and her light blue jeans. To tell the truth, she wasn’t wearing any other T-shirts under the hoodie tee. It covered up enough, but was hardly modest; of course, she had a date with Hart later, and she hadn’t wanted to run upstairs to dress, so she had just worn it to the band’s jam session.

Well, if you could call themselves a band. Really, Naoki and Blake seemed so good at their instruments, but to Michi, she always sound flat, or sharp, or in major when they were minor and minor when they were major. She seemed to skip chords or mess them up the most, and the girl honestly felt terrible about it. Naoki, though, insisted she was getting better every day, and that was assurance, seeing as whenever he tried to lie, Naoki was found out immediately. She let her dark eyes glance at him with a smile a moment before turning back to the music.

Naoki managed to catch the small girl’s gaze with his own unnaturally dark blue eyes when she had glanced his way. The smile she gave him made him turn red, and he slipped up his counting and had to take a few seconds to rejoin the guitarist and bassist.

Sure, he had only been here a month almost, but still, Nao felt he had more experiences than he ever had at Beauxbatons. He had met someone who turned his world even more upside-down than Jacqueline had, made a new best friend, found someone from his old school, and now, he had joined a band.

And quite a pathetic group they were, seeing as they could not find even a decent-voiced person to do vocals for them. Tsk, tsk, tsk. Then he realized the song had ended, and he was still tapping out the beat on his drum set. Crap.

The dark-haired boy quickly withdrew his sticks from the instrument, his face turning slightly red from embarrassment so that it was a couple shades lighter that his T-shirt. He simply shrugged and managed to catch Michi’s eye again; she was smiling, at usual, and even giggling a little bit. The girl looked gorgeous in the fading light, and not in the way most boys would be thinking (though he, too, did have those thoughts). Right now, she just looked naturally pretty.

The sad thing was that she already had someone - a boy whom had once gone to his school and paid no attention to him whatsoever, Hart Kinsey. Hart had been in the upper crowd when Naoki had still been a pupil at Beauxbaton’s, but now he seemed to hang out with the lower crowd. The other thing that was weird was that he and his family were all pureblood extremists, and yet his girlfriend was a half-blood and his best friend a Mudblood. It unnerved Naoki to think that Michi would be going out with someone with whom she could never be with for long, and, really, it seemed to unnerve her other friends as well.

“Okay, um, could we work on measure 26? That’s such a tricky chord thing, and I can’t seem to get it…” Michi asked softly, letting her bass hang off her from her shoulder strap and showing Blake the page of music. Naoki quickly went through his memory and found that part of the song. He nodded at her, and they both turned to Blake.

How stupid is it?
For all I know you want me too
And maybe you just don't know what to do
Or maybe you're scared to say: "I'm falling for you"

I'm a lot like you so please
Hello, I'm here, I'm waiting
I think I'd be good for you
And you'd be good for me

The oldest and by far the tallest of the trio’s fingers moved quickly and effortlessly as they started the piece. It was the first time they’d gone through it tonight, and Blake would definitely say that there was some improvement over the last few times they’d played it, even if it was still far from perfect. Reaching the point in the piece at which the vocals were supposed to come in, the Canadian began to once again desperately wish that they’d found themselves a singer already. It just sounded so dull to not have the voice in the mix. In his head he could already hear the lyrics being sung, although it was still far from the same thing. They may have been getting good, but the band would never truly be great unless they found a great singer.

Blake (and most likely Naoki) winced as Michi missed the same repeated phrase for what had to be the fifth time in a row. Considering she’d only been playing her instrument since April, the young Japanese girl really wasn’t doing too badly; however the Estremo was no longer so sure how quickly she was improving these days. Already knowing how to play the guitar, the bass hadn’t been a huge stretch for Chi, and because of that she’d seemed incredible for a beginner at the start, but after three months he’d really been hoping that she’d have become almost as good at the bass as she’d been at the guitar. Well, maybe she just needed a bit more time…

The Lorent was easily the most proficient at his instrument, even if Nao was a very close second. The first time he’d heard the Leale play, Blake had truly been surprised at just how skilled a drummer he was; heck, he could probably give the Fifth Year’s old friend Patrick a run for his money. However, even the other male had a tendency to mess up, a fact that Blake blamed on Michi’s presence.

He’d recognized the boys change in behaviour around his fellow Fourth Year fairly early on, and it hadn’t taken a genius to figure out that there seemed to be more than friendship in his mind. Now, perhaps a good best friend would have taken to warn the girl’s boyfriend, but the sixteen-tear-old knew how Hart tended to overreact, and it wasn’t like Nao was actually going to act on these feelings. Naoki seemed to blush anytime Miss Kinmori so much as looked his way, especially when she was dressed the way she was now, which basically meant anytime she was going to be around Hart. What were even worse were the days when Hart came to watch, because then he had to deal with a distracted Michi as well as a jealous Naoki (Blake had had to force his roommate to leave in order to get things going properly again). How did he ever put up with these two?

“Okay, um, could we work on measure 26? That’s such a tricky chord thing, and I can’t seem to get it…” he heard Michi ask, seeming almost embarrassed to need to go over it again. Dark blue eyes briefly glanced at the page before the eldest also gave a slight nod. “Sure, why not,” he said with a sigh, before adding in a more encouraging tone: “I think you’re definitely starting to get it, Michi.”

Perhaps it was a bit tiring from time to time, but Blake was definitely glad that they’d decided to form a band. It wasn’t until they starting having little jam sessions like that that the eldest of the three realized how much he’d missed playing in a proper band. He’d always had a lot of fun back home in Canada practicing and performing with his three friends, and he was beginning to wonder what had become of his band since he left. Had they replaced him or just completely fallen apart? He wished he knew, but unfortunately none of his supposed friends seemed to care enough to so much as send him a letter.

Playing the same measure over and over, Blake seemed to be listening for Michi’s errors more than he was making sure he didn’t make any of his own. She seemed to be getting better, even if it would probably be a good idea for her to practice it a bit on her own. “Enough of that,” he finally said after about the tenth time; if he had to play and listen to the same notes just a few more times he was going to go even madder than he already was. “How about we take a break, or at least move on to something else.”

First he heard the drums, quickly joined by the rest of the band. But even when he strained to listen to the music above the din of the dining hall, he realized there was no one singing, or singing too low for him to hear it. He did have enhanced hearing senses, but by Merlin's kinky pubes, he wasn't that great. The fact that the noise level in the Hall of Pranzare was considerable, and that he was in an entirely different floor didn't aid his hearing.

At first he had thought the singer-less band was playing below them, in the abandoned Potions classroom where the nascent nightclub was soon to open. His eyes narrowed and his back went stiff with rage--that bitch had gone against her word and gotten someone else to play music! But then he relaxed minimally, they didn't seem to have a singer. So perhaps she had done him a favor? You never knew with that Rosanna Bianchessi. One minute she could be chit chatting with you in the most friendly manner, and the next she could be driving her brutal stilettos through your heart with skill.

But then he realized that it was neither of this. It was above him! In the second floor? The ballroom! He'd passed the room a couple of times, poked his head inside, and decided it was nothing much. But now there seemed to be a band, without a singer, rehearsing up there. Daniel winced as he was completely tuned in to the sound. It was good, capable, promising--but not perfect. Yet, with the right vocals it could soar to new heights.

To the random student who had been sitting next to Daniel, wondering why the Spirito was not touching his rather appetizing flan, the guy seemed to suddenly disappear. In fact, very few people saw him, exiting the dining hall, at such a speed that they simply put it out of their minds because it was hard to believe anyone could move that fast without a broom.

Why a vampire who couldn't eat food or risk indigestion had been doing at a bloody dining hall was perfectly explainable. He had to keep up some appearances. And he'd realized just a few weeks ago that if he didn't at least show up for dinner people would indeed question his nature. And this vampire, as opposed to the other flamboyant vampire in the school, did not want the stigma of his nature to hinder whatever little social interactions he did have.

He raced up the stairs following the sound, but was forced to slow down to a more human speed once he entered the second floor corridor. Human-looking blurs were not a great way to show his presence. And while classes had been over for quite a while now, there were still students wandering about. Damn the secrecy, he was tired of it all of the sudden and entertained the fantasy of "coming out" of the crypt, so to speak. He heard the music again, a repeat of a certain part. At least they were making an effort to sound better.

As Daniel literally burst through the doors to the Grand Ballroom, he wondered what lyrics would go with the song. It seemed to have so much potential, if only the lyrics wouldn't suck...

"Hey guys, I heard you playing---err, just outside--and wanted to check you out," he had been looking at the three of them and their instruments. A girl and two guys. And how young they were! That was his first impression--youth. And then came the next one impossibly tied up to the first--beauty. Beauty because of youth.

Not that he wasn't beautiful himself, in his own right. His pale skin today was complimented with tight-fitting, blank pants that were almost too dressy, and he wore a crimson patterned shirt lose at the cuffs and neck. He had tied up his long midnight black hair into a rather messy pony tail to prevent it from falling onto his eyes. And just to seem human he'd touched up his lips with a bit of natural-looking color. Of course, as always, his eyes wore a thick black liner. It was trademark, after all. In short, he looked like a goth rocker come to life--or life in death!

And if these kids knew anything of music, they could hear his voice promised to be simply beautiful. But he didn't take that chance, and said, "You don't have a singer, do you?"

Michi and Blake had been searching for a singer since the end of March. They’d attended karaoke nights in Magio Centro, approached random students at the school, and even considered sticking up posters in the hopes of locating someone even halfway decent. With all the effort they’d put into trying to find themselves a vocalist, they never would have imagined that one would have found them.

He’d still been staring back and forth between the two soon to be Fifth Years, still patiently awaiting a response, when the doors had opened. Glancing over, wanting to know why they had just been thrown open like that, Blake spotted another figure coming towards them. He hadn’t been expecting any visitors, other than perhaps Hart, Cosetta or Ray, all three of whom had been kindly asked not to come until an hour or so in. Was this guy expecting to find them here, or had he just stumbled upon them by chance?

As the new arrival began to speak, Blake’s first question was answered. So he’d heard them and decided to come have a better look. For a brief moment the Lorent wondered how he’d been able to hear them – hadn’t he asked Naoki to put a silencing charm on the room? Shrugging it off, assuming that Nao had merely forgotten, the Estremo was just about to ask what the male what he thought, seeing as they were yet to have an honest outsider’s opinion (Hart wasn’t about to insult his girlfriend and his best friend’s band, and neither Rachel nor Cos knew a thing about music), when he’d spoken again.

“You don't have a singer, do you?” It may have been phrased as a question, but the sixteen-year-old could tell that the other student needn’t really have asked. He’d heard them playing, and therefore noticed the total lack of vocals, and there was also the fact that, unless Michi or Blake was singing as well as playing their instrument, there wasn’t even another person in the room to be the singer. Fortunately, if the youth was reading this guy right, that may have been about to change.

“Depends,” Blake replied casually, trying not to seem as overexcited as Chi. “Is that your way of asking for the position?” Michi was already jumping for joy at the mere idea, but the Canadian was reminding himself that just because they might have found someone who was interested didn’t mean they were going to let him join the band without showing them what he could do. Yes, the guy’s voice already sounded quite promising, and at this point their standards weren’t going to be too high, but there was no harm in asking him to sing for them.

Despite the fact that the youth was still trying not to be too confident about them having found a singer, he was already picturing how they would look together as a band. This new man seemed somewhat older than the current trio, although it was sometimes hard to judge someone’s age purely by looks. He seemed to be going for somewhat of a gothic look, with pale skin, long enough black hair, eye-liner, and his current outfit.

Now, when he pictured that in the same group as Michi, Naoki and himself, it did seem at least somewhat strange. Sure, when wearing darker coloured clothing – unlike the light blue shirt and jeans he was wearing today – Blake might not have looked too far off from that, with his naturally dark hair and pale skin (albeit nowhere near as pale as this guy’s), but Chi and Nao were a completely different story. As a whole, there was also the serious height difference between Blake and the other three, but that could only be expected when you were six foot five. Oh well, how they looked as a band was much less important than how they sounded.

“Seriously,” he said to their new acquaintance, giving a quick glance at his two friends, “I’m sure Michi and Naoki agree, if you can sing, we could really use you.” Too desperate and needy? Maybe it was just a little, but if this guy accepted and turned out to have a really amazing voice, then it would definitely have paid off.

So perhaps he had not noticed there was a silencing charm on the room. He'd been so excited to contemplate the logic of the situation. Though this room was certainly acoustically perfect, the loud sounds of a band playing would definitely leak outside and disturb a few. But finding a almost fully formed band without a singer was like stumbling over a pot o' gold. Very few people ever truly thought about it, they just picked it up and ran with it.

Daniel was looking at the three people that so far made up the band. Two guitars, and he couldn't tell now which one was the bass he'd heard. And the drummer. His eyes went straight to the taller of the three, whom he found to be very attractive, if just a bit too bright. The boy was talking to him.

"Well, yes, if you'll have me," One of his dazzling smiles. Hopefully dazzling and not just a tiny bit wicked. Though he had filed down his fangs--painfully--they were still quite prominent. So he always took the care to never smile too broadly.

Daniel, too, contemplated what sort of band they would make. Immediately his first thought was that they would have to bond and synchronize in some way. He would rather prefer not wearing their colorful clothes, learn their mannerisms. He'd rather stick with his own and have them adapt to him and all that. But this wasn't his band, per se. It was just the interim, and that was just a sort of annoying little vague feeling that he got. Kind of like another heightened sense that the vampiric blood had gifted him with. Go figure.

Ah, but there was nothing that make up couldn't cover up. And once you got them moving and talking like him, well, they would be a proper band. Unfortunately he couldn't turn any one of them, to give them the real bond that they required to think in vampiric terms. Nor could he reveal who he was in reality. Monelli knew, but that could not have been helped. His teachers knew, they had to know. Dan couldn't quite take classes in the harsh brightness of morning, or even the afternoon. Of course, there were plenty that suspected, but with his own room and all that, his interactions were limited. Blessedly, thankfully, luckily. Or a lot of students would start suffering from memory loss.

The vampire returned to the issue of forming a band with these students. What could he expect from them? Professionalism? Maybe not. They were so young, after all. They would have to practice endlessly to get the right vibe going, to get it all ready for performance. And how, exactly, was he to convince them to practice only after sunset? An interesting issue.

As for now the immediate thing would be to show them that they wanted him as much as he needed them. Easy, he just had to open his mouth and let it all out. Give out a bit of his best song. They would surely like it. Lots of people did, wherever he performed it. It would certainly be no issue at all.

"Maybe I should just sing for you, a small sample? Then you can decide if you like it," He was already moving--at a normal, human speed--towards the stage.

There was a spare microphone left between the two guitarists, as if an empty spot was preserved for the singer that they didn't yet have. How curious. Waiting for him? Daniel smirked and simply took cold of it. He sung with all the feeling that he could muster, which was a considerable amount. A song of defiance and teenage rebellion. Just for them.

"They're gonna clean up your looks
With all the lies in the books
To make a citizen out of you
Because they sleep with a gun
And keep an eye on you, son
So they can watch all the things you do

"Because the drugs never work
They're gonna give you a smirk
'Cause they got methods of keeping you clean
They're gonna rip up your heads,
Your aspirations to shreds
Another cog in the murder machine

"They said all teenagers scare the living shit out of me
They could care less as long as someone'll bleed
So darken your clothes or strike a violent pose
Maybe they'll leave you alone, but not me

"The boys and girls in the clique
The awful names that they stick
You're never gonna fit in much, kid
But if you're troubled and hurt
What you got under your shirt
Will make them pay for the things that they did

"They said all teenagers scare the living shit out of me
They could care less as long as someone'll bleed
So darken your clothes or strike a violent pose
Maybe they'll leave you alone, but not me

"Ohhh yeah!

"They said all teenagers scare the living shit out of me
They could care less as long as someone'll bleed
So darken your clothes or strike a violent pose
Maybe they'll leave you alone, but not me

"All together now!

"Teenagers scare the living shit out of me
They could care less as long as someone'll bleed
So darken your clothes or strike a violent pose
Maybe they'll leave you alone, but not me"

He gave them about two minutes of the song, then stopped slowly, fading out, as if to let them know that the rest of the sung was pretty much a repetition of the chorus. There was no use in repetition, at least not without the full band backing him up. At least it was a song that he thought they could definitely perform, if they practiced enough.

"So, did I pass the test?" Okay, so maybe he was a bit cocky about it. But he knew he'd done well. Goddamn well!

Well, that was quite unexpected, the boy sitting behind the drum set thought as an older, pale boy burst into the ballroom. He was certain he had put that silencing charm on the room - he even remembered accidentally using it on Miss Kinmori before the room once she had walked in through the door. Ah, embarrassing… But Naoki did suppose that maybe it hadn’t been as powerful as he had thought; he was, after all only just turned fifteen, and so some sound must’ve leaked out. Oh well.

He watched through blue eyes as Blake conversed with this stranger, and couldn’t help but let a grin stretch the corners of his mouth when Blake asked if the new boy was suggested he become their lead singer. Finally, they might get someone good! Of course, this pale youth could very well be a horrible singer, but Naoki blocked these thoughts from his head. The guy’s voice was already good enough, even when he talked, so he had to be a decent singer, right?

Though, this boy was quite… strange-looking, and scary. He was almost too black and white, like death. Like a stereotypical punk-rocker-goth-emo kid. And them? Nao thought they looked good all together, but this guy stuck out like… well, something that sticks out. A stick. And no way was he dressing like something he wasn’t.

It seemed both Naoki and Michi were surprised when the newcomer just walked up to the microphone that they had set up, for, really, no reason at all. The small girl watched him sing his song - he had energy. And courage, what she would give for that quality. Really, she would’ve loved to sing lead for their band, if only it didn’t mean getting up on a stage in front of tons of people who were watching your every move and clinging to your every word. Sure, she was already kind of doing that, but no one really watched the bassist. Sometimes the guitarist or the drummer, but not her. They mostly focused on the singer.

But that was certainly fine with her, not to be noticed. It was basically what she had always done, until recently, and still, she preferred the background to the spotlight. Front stages weren’t her forte.

As this newcomer finished his song, both Michi and Naoki resisted the urge to clap. He was exactly what they had been looking for; awesome voice, good-looking, and he wasn’t laliophobic or anything like that, either. Both Japs looked to Blake, grinned, and nodded, then began looking at each other, the Lorent, and the boy with excited faces. They were almost a full band, a full band!

And now it was time for Blake to decide.

{Okay, that sucked. XD Like, it really sucked. Sorry!}

Today was definitely their day. Michi, Blake and Nao’s practice may not have started out amazingly, but the sudden unexpected arrival of this other student had been the best thing any of them could have hoped for. This guy seemed to be in need of a band just as badly as they were in need of a singer, and with any luck he’d be just as good as he seemed to think he was.

Blake was quite pleased when the new arrival volunteered to give them a sample of his singing, for he had honestly been dreading asking, a task which probably would have been his seeing as Michi and Naoki seemed to be completely speechless. The tall one watched with interest as he stepped up to the microphone; which the Estremo had brought along just because it didn’t feel right to practice without at least the spot where the vocalist would go. As the sound of his voice filled the room, the sixteen-year-old’s eyes closed, avoiding anything that could distract him from the music.

He missed his much keener sense of hearing from his wolf form whenever he was listening to something; however the singer’s voice was powerful enough that it wasn’t exactly necessary. It would be a lie if Blake said he didn’t like what he was hearing, both in reference to the male’s voice and the song itself. Dark blue eyes opening part way through the song, he glanced over at Michi and Naoki, trying to figure out what their opinion on this was. Hopefully they’d at least give him some kind of signal, as he didn’t want to accept only to later find out that the others absolutely hated his voice.

It was only at the line “All together now” that Blake realized how disappointing it was that they were only hearing the vocals on this song; it would be nice to have the full band, and maybe even some back up vocals for certain parts. Well, if he was right to assume that the dark haired boy was soon to be a permanent fixture in their band, then maybe he would get the chance to hear and play this song as it was meant to be.

The song was done and the singer was now asking for their opinion. The teen looked over at the younger pair who once again the younger were completely silent. It took Blake only a moment to spot the grins on their faces, which he had no difficulty interpreting as a yes. With a quick nod of the head at the other two, his attention was returned to the one whose name he still didn’t know. “With flying colours, unless I’ve misunderstood the signals I’m getting from the other two judges,” the Estremo replied. “It seems to be unanimous, you’re in.”

“By the way,” he started, deciding that a quick introduction of who everyone was was in order, “I’m Blake, I play guitar. That’s Michi.” He pointed to the shortest one in the room. “She plays bass. And our drummer is Naoki,” he said, not feeling the need to indicate which one was Nao seeing as it should already be obvious. Not knowing what else to say he simply finished with: “Welcome to our band.”

Maybe he should have picked a different song--a better song. He'd already written so many, he sometimes "forgot" a few along the way. Thank goodness for the fact that he treasured his lyrical notepad as if the pages were cast in gold! Else, in the last few years since he'd woken up and decided to be a rocker, he would have had to recreate a ton of his music.

It was all his, too. Well, all except a few songs here and there. Those had been hashed out experimentally with whatever temporary band he'd joined or formed while he stayed in any particular region for a while. But that had never lasted, and some songs had been lost along the way. Not because he didn't have the photographic memory (all vampires have) to remember things, and especially music and songs in Daniel's case. But because each band had a different quality and feel to them, and when something really good and original was found--something that absolutely rocked--it was fucking hard to replicate.

Unless, of course, he pointed his wand at a speaker and forced the music out of his mind to play that way, from memory. Which was, obviously, a taxing ordeal. He'd not so much learned the spell as made it up from parts and combinations of many different others. Almost like a Sonorus, but with the ability to link up with his mind and extract the music going through it. A very difficult spell that required him to split his attention two ways: remembering the exact sound of all the instruments playing at the same time, and remembering the matching vocals just in time with the beats. Goddamn taxing.

But, wait--he was in? Daniel smiled so widely his lips felt stretched, and his happiness almost made him jump up and down with glee. But that wouldn't seem natural, or overly "well adjusted" for a teenager who was, based on looks alone, older than all the others in the band.

"Oh wow! That's awesome!" He did his best to restrain his--joy? What exactly was he feeling? Did it even matter? Was there an ulterior motive behind it? He asked himself these questions rather harshly, and came to realize than inner judge was afraid that this band might suffer the same fate as all the other bands--seven of them gone so far.

Had you been privy to his thoughts, and dared to ask him what exactly he meant by gone, and if he had felt like replying... Well, eventually, he'd drank them dry of blood. Though there were the random few who'd escaped mostly full of blood... and just horribly disturbed for life.

Still. This wasn't the lawless world out there where a good vampire could cover his tracks flawlessly if he only knew how. If he even tried that here, his fate might not be too pleasant, at all. And the hedonistic vampire he was, he absolutely refused to feel such pains of punishment.

It was truly one of those moments when both Japanese teens in the room wanted to do something absolutely crazy, like jump up and down while smashing their instruments one the hard floor, or randomly kiss something. Grinning was all either one could do to hold back the desire to pull this stranger into an eternal bear hug, and really, the muscles in both their mouths were starting to hurt a bit.

But who cared? They had a singer! Both their mouths could just fall off, and it wouldn’t matter because they had a singer. Michi was actually starting to twitch a bit, and Naoki was tapping out a fast rhythm as silently as he could on the drum set up in front of him. Both waved as they were mentioned.

“Hi there! Welcome to the band, and really, call me Chi,” The youngest student in the room shot Blake a playful glare before grinning at the pale boy.

“Hey there, and call me Nao,” the drummer boy added to their greetings, giving him a friendly smile. This boy didn’t seem too terrible in his much darker ways - he could probably get used to it. Besides, it was just one other friend to add to the list, and he seemed relatively friendly.

“So do you have a name, or what?” Michi suddenly voiced, “Because otherwise these arrangements might turn out difficult to work under.”

{I AM SORRY THAT THIS TRULY SUCKS, but I have hardly been in the mood to write posts of late. xD But I promised this one by today, so here it is in all it’s unmighty loserness.}

"I have many names," the vampire said with a mysterious grin. Probably not the best way to answer such a question. He was oblivious to their reactions, if any. Tons of people joked about their names. He could have meant nick names, stage names, what he called himself in his head, or what he called himself in the shower--if that one counted.

"But most people call me Daniel Roston. It's what my mum gave me," He was too happy to care what they were thinking just about now.

A band! And with enough guidance and effort they could sound just like he wanted them to. Perhaps something could be done about their clothes and even some make up and hair styling. Who knew, maybe they could be the next big thing--forget the school! Daniel restrained his enthusiastic imaginings. By what he'd heard earlier, the bass was a bit off.

The colors on the girl hurt his eyes. But only figuratively speaking. There was just a quality of colorfulness and bubbly charm that smacked at him of a socialite. And, well. He wasn't fond of such beings of the limelight. Yet, he could endure her, if it meant having a band for Rosanna's club, and his own diversions. Classes at school were sublimely boring, having studied all this already and learned quite a bit more besides. He could dance circles around the average seven year.

"Hi!" He said enthusiastically at Naoki. He liked the guy, instinctively. There was colorfulness about him, in a way, but the fact that he was thus far quiet meant so much more was beneath the exterior. Depth. Always in shade out of necessity of the physics of the psyche. Daniel knew about that. "I'm so glad to have met you all!" And he meant it. He always positively adored all his band mates, at first.

"So," Daniel was looking at each of them in turn, "Do you guys have a sort of schedule for practice? Like three times a week or something like that?"

(( Shall this be cut short too?? ))

Blake couldn’t quite decide exactly what the other two were thinking about their band’s latest addition, aside from the fact that he had a great singing voice. Michi was still smiling, even if the Estremo thought he’d notice a brief flicker of confusion at his initial response when simply asked for his name. However, by this time he doubted that the girl cared if the singer was a little odd – she probably would have been fine with anyone save for Kajetan Sabelli as long as they could sing!

As for Nao, once again it was hard to say. The youth, although still unable to sit still, was being unusually quiet at the moment, especially since they typically struggled to get him to stop talking. Was this a sign of dislike? A sudden case of shyness? Or was he just so overwhelmed with joy that he had no clue what to say?

Personally, the Lorent had absolutely no problem with this Daniel. Actually, he thought he seemed quite alright, maybe even a potential friend. Sure, he might have been a bit different, but that was something Blake seemed to look for in his friends. Michi was about as normal as his friends came, and she could be quite crazy herself, when she wasn’t trying so hard to impress Hart that she acted like a completely different person.

His reaction to being welcomed to their band hadn’t been quite as excited as Mister Himamoto’s had been – it had taken a good five minutes to get that one to stop jumping and shouting for joy – but it was clear that the Roston was more than pleased. Blake had no idea why he was just as keen to find a band as they’d been to find a singer, nor did he really feel the need to ask. Obviously, like the other three, he probably had a love for music and figured it would be a nice way to waste time. It was also possible that, like Nao, he was more than happy to have an opportunity to make new friends – he had said he was very glad to have met them.

“Lately we’ve just kind of been practicing whenever we were all available. It’s been a bit harder to find time, since some of us,” blue eyes flickered to Michi for a second as he said this, “have been spending an insane amount of time studying for exams,” he explained, smiling as he remember of all the times he and Nao had gone to the Spirito girls’ dorms to see if Chi was up for a practice session only to be ordered to quit disrupting their studying time. “But we’ve been making sure to have at least two a week. Hopefully we’ll be able to get more in now that school’s out.”

Thoughts of becoming ‘the next big thing’ were a very long way from the sixteen-year-old’s mind, but he was starting to wonder when they might be ready for their first performance. With a bit more practice, he was sure that they could become quite good. Soon enough, he figured that even Michi might be good enough that they could play for other people, as long as Chi could get over her stage-freight. Now that they’d found a singer, they definitely needed to start looking for a gig!

Aw, dangit, he COULD NOT HOLD IT IN ANY LONGER!

“YES!! WE HAVE A SING-AH!” Naoki very suddenly and startlingly shouted like the guy who always shouts “WE HAVE A WINNER!” when you win some prize at something or other, causing Michi to give a little scream and a jump.

“NaOkiiii! Warn us before you spazz, please!” she complained, checking to make sure she hadn’t damaged her instrument in her own spazz about Naoki’s spazz. Her smile now replaced by a frown, she turned her head only to gaze upon the sad puppy-dog face of her bandmate, and of course, she naturally gave in. “I’m sorry Nao! Just, don’t freak us out like that anymore. You’re going to scare away our singer.” She smiled at the drummer, then Daniel.

“Sorry, Dan,” he apologized, his puppy-dog face stuck between a sad face and a puppy-dog grin. “But, um… do you have, like, a gig or something that we can play at? Because that’d be the ultimate bonus added onto finding a singer without a band, you know?” Now he was grinning completely at the kind of creepy boy.

Okay, he admitted it; the boy creeped him out a bit. He was TOO pale, like he was stuck in death, and there was also just something general about him that was screaming at his instincts that he should stay away from him. Kind of like that story about the wolf in sheep’s skin, only he knew, unlike the sheep in that s there was something up with this “sheep”.

Or maybe he was just being judgmental? He seemed nice enough, even if his smiles and grins weren’t full. He could turn out to be another friend like Edgar had been. And boy, Naoki hoped so.

{Sorry that this sucked so bad, and that it was uber late. FORGIVE ME!}

How stupid is it?
For all I know you want me too
And maybe you just don't know what to do
Or maybe you're scared to say: "I'm falling for you"

I'm a lot like you so please
Hello, I'm here, I'm waiting
I think I'd be good for you
And you'd be good for me
